Health Care Software

Computer software has many applications, and one of them is in the field of health care. What's more, there is much freeware and open source health care software. For instance, there is Epi Info, an epidemiology public domain statistical software created by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia. Epi Info has existed for over 20 years, time during which it has been constantly updated. Another example is the Spatiotemporal Epidemiological Modeler tool, which is employed by scientists to develop and use spatial and temporal models of infectious disease. This software is made available by the Eclipse Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation.

Open dental is a project that strives to be the world's standard dental software. Though owned by Open Dental Software, Inc based in Oregon, its accessibility makes it available for the whole dental community to develop and support. GNUmed is a free electronic medical record for several platforms such as Linux, UNIX, Windows, and OS X. Its goal is to offer an open standard medical software that respects the patients' privacy. On the other hand, GNU Health is a Hospital Information System that provides an electronic medical record and a health information system. ClearHealth is an encompassing electric medical record system that includes tools for scheduling, patient registration, electronic medical records and CPOE, electronic and paper billing, and SQL reporting.

On a related field, there are many companies that specialize in design innovation for several health related websites. One such company is called CogniMed, which has worked with leading health care websites like testosteroneupdate.org (hypoganadism), Lilly ICOS (where people buy Cialis), and the American Headache Society (study and treatment of headache and face pain).
