Confetti is an interactive drawing tool that "paints" with a set of shapes that resemble confetti paper.

Algorithm

In texture mode, when the mouse is pressed random confetti shapes are spawned from the current mouse location and travel outward from there along a curving path. During each frame of drawing the shapes pull their current color from an underlying texture image. As the shapes continue to overlap each other a gradual confetti'd representation of the original image is constructed.

Or you can turn off the texturing function and just draw colorful rainbow confetti in paint mode. The second version draws its color from an image used as a random palette instead of treating it as a texture underneath the confetti.
